Sue Dawes

I completed my honours degree in Social Science in 1991 and then travelled extensively in Australasia, including spending 13 months getting lost in a 1971 VW campervan. On my return I worked in customer service, social work, and finance (to name a few).  It wasn't until after the birth of my two children and the completion of an MA in Creative Writing in 2010, that I started to hope writing could be more than a hobby.
Since that point I have had several short stories published in magazines including Writers Forum and Mslexia and in 2011, I won both the Mystery Women Short story competition and the Five stop story competition.  My complete list of achievements can be found on my website here: Sue Dawes

I am currently studying for a PhD in Creative Writing at Essex, and writing a speculative fiction novel. I am also completing/rewriting several crime-fiction thrillers (one of which was shortlisted in 2013 for the CWA Debut Dagger ).
I'm an avid fan of Dr Who, and will watch anything that involves werewolves, time travel or is set in the future.  I am also addicted to Scandinavian thrillers- especially the killing (and not just for the jumper).
